The Spinal Health Score: your progress, measured from 0 to 100

Most chiropractic care asks how you feel. We measure how your spine is actually functioning, give it a number, and show you that number moving as your care corrects the cause.

The Spinal Health Score is Newman Chiropractic's clinical scoring system for measuring chiropractic progress, used with every patient in Salisbury, MA and across the North Shore. It combines range of motion, X-ray findings, orthopedic testing, posture, and functional movement into one number from 0 to 100, from Critical to Optimal. Your baseline is set during your two-visit evaluation, updated monthly during corrective care, and checked quarterly if you continue into the Spinal Health Membership. If the score is not moving, your program changes.

Stop guessing. Start knowing.

What is the Spinal Health Score?

"Is this actually working?" is the question every chiropractic patient eventually asks. Feeling better is real, but feelings swing with sleep, stress, and a good weekend. The Spinal Health Score answers with data instead.

Your score combines range of motion, X-ray findings, orthopedic testing, posture, and functional movement into a single number from 0 to 100. A 40 that climbs to 62 is correction you can see, whether or not that week felt great. Alongside the number, your report shows your status in plain words, like "Good, Stabilizing," and the focus areas your care is working on in the current stretch of your program.

Every patient gets one. Your score is reviewed with you, on your report, in language that makes sense. No other local practice tracks care this way.

Where your number comes from

How is your Spinal Health Score calculated?

Your baseline comes out of the two-visit evaluation every new patient starts with. Nothing about it is a guess.

  • 01Visit oneYou share your story, then we run the full exam: digital X-rays, posture screen, range of motion, and orthopedic and functional movement testing. Everything that feeds the score gets measured.
  • 02Between visitsThe clinical team scores your findings and builds your baseline, then designs a program around your goal with the milestones your score should hit along the way.
  • 03Visit twoYou see your number, your X-rays next to normal, and exactly what we would correct and how. You leave knowing your starting point and your finish line.

Accountability, built in

What happens to your score during care?

Your Spinal Health Score is updated monthly during your corrective program. Relief usually comes first. The score is how you see the correction underneath it: motion returning, posture markers improving, nerve findings calming down.

If your number is not moving, your program changes

That is the whole point of measuring. Care decisions stay tied to your data, not to a routine.

It is how chiropractic care at Newman Chiropractic stays built around your goal, whether your program centers on adjustments, spinal decompression, or the full mix of therapies your findings call for.

After your corrective program

What happens to your score when the program ends?

When corrective care is complete, you have a choice. Graduate out entirely, or continue with the optional Spinal Health Membership, your next chapter in care.

The choice exists because soft tissue remodeling takes 12 to 16 months to fully complete. The corrective program gets your spine and nervous system ready. The membership is how the biology finishes the work, with your score still tracking so hard-won progress is not quietly lost.

Common questions

Common questions about working with Newman Chiropractic

What is a good Spinal Health Score?

The scale runs 0 to 100, from Critical to Optimal, and your report explains your status in plain words. But the number that matters most is not where you start. It is which direction you are moving. A patient who starts at 45 and climbs steadily is doing better than one who starts at 70 and drifts down.

What goes into the score?

Five kinds of findings: range of motion, X-ray findings, orthopedic testing, posture, and functional movement. Each is measured at your evaluation and re-measured as care moves along, so the score reflects how your spine is functioning, not just how the week felt.

How often is my score updated?

Monthly during your corrective program, and quarterly once you move into the Spinal Health Membership. Every update comes with a progress exam, so the number always reflects fresh findings.

Do I need X-rays to get a score?

X-ray findings are one of the five components, and we take digital X-rays on site, often the same day as your first exam. If you have prior imaging, including MRIs, bring it. We review it as part of your baseline and walk you through what it shows.

Is this standard at chiropractic offices?

The Spinal Health Score is our own clinical scoring system, and no other local practice tracks care this way. We built it because measurable progress is the honest answer to the fairest question in chiropractic: how do I know this is working?

What is the Spinal Health Membership?

It protects your progress through the 12 to 16 month soft tissue remodeling window with quarterly Spinal Health Score updates, progress exams, flare-up response, annual X-rays, and updated home programming, billed as one monthly charge you can cancel anytime.
